Ever so popular, easy and really tasty. The ideal party finger food. You can very / leave out the chilli powder for a milder taste. added bonus is that this recipe is low calorie, so even on diet you can eat along.

Ingredients

Serves: 6 samosas

Metric Cups
  • 2 sheets filo pastry
  • 180 grams minced beef (or lamb)
  • 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon garlic paste
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon curry powder
  • ¼ teaspoon chilli powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 sheets filo pastry
  • 6⅓ ounces ground beef (or lamb)
  • 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon garlic paste
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon curry powder
  • ¼ teaspoon chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cumin

Method

Easy Samoosa is a community recipe submitted by SAFruitCake and has not been tested by Nigella.com so we are not able to answer questions regarding this recipe.

  • Heat half the oil in a large non-stick pan.
  • Lightly fry the mince for five minutes. Add the spices and fry for a further two minutes, Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Working quickly divide the filo pastry sheets into three strips. Holding the bottom end of a sheet form the last ¼ of the strip into a cone, triangle pocket, fill with the mince mixture and fold over the remaining pastry over the sides until you reach the end.
  • Secure close by placing a few drops of water between the sheets. Continue with remaining strips. Place all six samoosas on a baking tray that has been coated with non-stick spray.
  • Using a pastry brush, brush the remaining oil over each samoosa and bake in a 190°C oven for 20 minutes, turning half way through cooking time. Prep 15 min/Cook 20 min
