  • Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  • Squeeze excess moisture from the bread and discard the crusts.
  • Mix the following ingredients together by hand: the meat, bread, olive oil, oregano, garlic, parsley, salt and pepper.
  • Let the mixture stand in the fridge for half an hour if you have the time.
  • Make large round meatballs (like hamburgers) and place them in a Pyrex or a baking pan.
  • Arrange the potatoes between the meatballs.
  • Pour some olive oil over the entire pan. Add 1 1/2 cups of water and the lemon juice over. Salt & pepper.
  • Bake at 180 degrees until golden and done. Add additional water and lemon juice to bottom of dish keeping about 1 inch of juice. Remove pan leaving juice.
  • TIPS: Some people put an egg into the mixture. No need at all. Why to add more cholesterol in our food? Some people barbeque the meatballs. Its ok but it's not the traditional Greek recipe. Looks more greek-american to me.

    • I imagine this might work quite well with Impossible burger or Beyond Beef plantbased ground!
