I really dislike fish sauce. Is there something else I can use instead in Nigella's Vietnamese Chicken and Mint Salad?
Fish sauce is made from fermented anchovies and is quite salty, but also has a unique taste that is difficult to replicate. So there isn't really a direct substitute for the fish sauce in this recipe. You can use light soy sauce for the dressing as it will add some saltiness, but as it has a different flavour profile we would suggest whisking together the other dressing ingredients first, then adding soy sauce a little at a time until you get a balance of flavours that suits your own taste.
