Our answer

Nigella's Nutella Pancakes (from [NIGELLA EXPRESS](/books/nigella express)) are store-bought crepes that are filled with chocolate hazelnut spread and warmed though in the oven. A mixture of melted butter and Frangelico is poured over the top before baking, to add extra flavour and to help to stop the pancakes from becoming too crisp and hard in the oven. Frangelico is a hazelnut-flavoured liqueur, so complements the Nutella well.

If you want to avoid using alcohol then we would suggest replacing the Frangelico with an extra 25g (2 tablespoons) butter (to make a total of 100g/7 tablespoons of butter for the recipe). Unfortunately other alternatives, such as coffee or juice, will overpower the taste of the Nutella. If you can use alcohol and just don't have any Frangelico, we would suggest rum or brandy as an alternative.
