Our answer

Nigella's Edible Christmas Tree Decorations (from NIGELLA CHRISTMAS) are seasonally spiced cut-out biscuits that can be decorated with royal icing. Nigella makes the dough in a food processor for speed and ease. However, it is possible to make the biscuits in a stand mixer or with a bowl and a wooden spoon.

Start by melting the butter in a medium saucepan over a low heat and then set aside to cool slightly. In a large mixing bowl whisk or sift together the flour, salt, baking powder and spices, then stir in the soft dark brown sugar. Whisk the eggs and honey into the cooled butter then stir in enough of this liquid into the dry ingredients to form a smooth and soft, but not sticky, dough. Form into two discs, wrap and chill for at least 30 minutes. It will be slightly softer after mixing than dough made in the food processor, so you need to chill both dough discs and let the dough firm up before rolling out.
