Halloumi is a semi-hard cheese that originated in Cyprus and the Mediterranean region and has become popular across the world. Halloumi tends to be eaten grilled, griddled or fried. It has a fairly unique texture that means that it holds its shape when cooked and this texture means it is often referred to as "squeaky cheese".
