Our answer

Nigella's No-Churn Margarita Ice Cream (from NIGELLA EXPRESS) uses the ingredients of a margarita cocktail, lime juice and tequila, to make an easy ice cream that you just whisk and freeze. The recipe uses 125mls (½ cup) fresh lime juice.

In our experience a fresh lime tends to yield between 1-2 tablespoons (15-30mls) of juice, depending on size and juiciness, so you would need to buy between 5 and 8 limes for the recipe. It is usually best to err on the side of buying the higher number as any extra limes can be used for spritzing over dishes or in summer drinks. We would prefer not to use a bottled juice as these usually contain preservatives, such as sulphites, which can give the ice cream mixture a slightly different flavour when frozen.
