Can I successfully make semifreddo and no churn ice cream in an ice cream making machine?
No-churn ice creams, such as Nigella's One-Step no-Churn Coffee Ice Cream and No-Churn Margarita Ice Cream are extremely popular as they do not need special equipment to be made. Instead they are just whisked and frozen. We suspect you may be able to put all of the ingredients in an ice cream maker and churn them, but we have not tried this and feel that it is easier and better to use the whisking method.
Semifreddos, such as Nigella's Honey Semifreddo, are usually made with a sabayon-type base of whisked eggs, to which whipped cream is added. The texture is different to an ice cream and so we would not recommend using an ice cream maker for these. If you would like to try some churned ice creams then you may like to consider Nigella's Cheesecake Ice Cream, Strawberry Ice Cream or Vin Santo Ice Cream With Cantuccini.
