Quick Snacks for Halloween

Asked by CMS. Answered on 25th October 2013

Full question

Hi Team Nigella! My kids' friends are meeting at my house before going trick or treating. Do you have any quick snack ideas that I could serve to them before they venture out?

Our answer

The weather at Halloween can be quite variable in the northern hemisphere but if it is cold then you may want to give the children a cup of hot soup before they leave. Nigella's Slime Soup (from Feast and on the Nigella website) is worthy of its name - a vivid green pea soup which will delight any witch or wizard. The recipe makes 1 litre/4 cups which would give 4 to 6 larger servings or 6 to 8 smaller servings. You could serve the soup with some Cheesy Feet (or use any spooky cookie cutter shape that you like) or Nigella's Pumpkin Scones (from Kitchen).

After that a cookie, such as Nigella's Creepy Cookies or a slice of Ghoul-Graveyard Cake (from Feast and on the Nigella website) should be enough to fortify the group for the fun ahead. Nigella's website also has many other ideas for Halloween dishes. Go to the Recipes section of the website and type "Halloween" into the search bar.
