Our answer

Nigella's first book HOW TO EAT) was fairly revolutionary in its style as it was written more in the style of a conversation in the kitchen rather than as a classic recipe book and as well as recipes it has suggestions for tweaks and adaptations to dishes.

For some of the recipes you will find the approximate number of portions outlined within the introductory text for the recipe or within the method itself. However, some of the chapters have been subdivided into suggested menus for certain numbers of people. So for example, in the Fast Food chapter the menus are for 4 people for after-work supper and in the Weekend Lunch chapter there are menus for "Autumn Lunch for 6", "Easy Winter Lunch for 6", along with other suggestions. So you may need to flip back a page or two to find the number of suggested portions. For the recipes on Nigella.com (for example, for the Clementine Cake) the number of portions is set out at the top of the ingredients list.
