Cypriot Semolina Cake

                                        Mix ingredients for cake, place in an oblong baking pan , place blanched almonds on top in rows (so there will be 1 on each piece) 180c for 45 - 60 mins  While cake is cooking place syrup ingredients in a pan and simmer for approx 10 mins. - 250 millilitres vegetable oil
- 500 grams semolina
- vanilla essence
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 250 millilitres brandy
For the for Syrup
- 625 millilitres sugar
- 500 millilitres water
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 3 cloves
For the Cake
- 4 medium eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 18 ounces semolina
- vanilla essence
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 cup brandy
For the for Syrup
- 2½ cups sugar
- 2 cups water
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 3 cloves
