Chicken Biryani is a community recipe submitted by Himashi and has not been tested by Nigella.com so we are not able to answer questions regarding this recipe.
Soak rice in water for 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes, drain it and put it in boiling water. Take enough water for rice.
Add Turmeric powder, cloves, cinnamon, cardamon and salt into water.
Cook rice only to half boiled.
Remove it, drain it in a strainer and keep it aside.
For chicken, saute onion and green chillies in ghee until it becomes dark brown.
Add ginger garlic paste, tomato and saute it.
Add all the powders, garam masale to it and saute it for 1 minute.
Add chicken into it and pour 1 glass water and then put enough salt also.
Replace chicken into pressure cooker.
After 1 whistle sim the stove and wait for 7 minutes.
After 7 minutes off the stove and wait for 20 minutes.
After 20 minutes, remove the lid. If it contains more water boil again until it has only semi gravy. Please remember this chicken gravy must be very thick.
Boil beans and carrot with little salt and drain it and keep it aside.
For marinating, fry all the contents till brown color and keep aside.
Take a big vessel and spread little rice on bottom.
Then add little vegetables on next layer and again one layer rice.
Add chicken and then next layer as rice.
Add the fried onions, cashews and grapes. Repeat the layers if you have more rice. Serve hot!
