The After-After-Party Snack

Introduction

There shouldn't, I admit this freely, be a recipe for this. After all, it is just a basic hodgepodge of leftovers and a minimal amount of cooking. The thing is: who really wants to cook after a night of partying, or that matter, anything else? This indeed started out as a post-midnight, post-sleepless night, last minute creation. I acknowledge that it involves no real cooking, unless you want it, but that should be the inviting part. After all, it tastes fabulous, so go with it. Life is like that, therefore food should also be so.

Ingredients

Serves: 0

  • cold ham
  • ⅓ cup maple syrup
  • 2 eating apples
  • cinnamon
  • butter

  • Tear the ham to hash-looking bits and toss it into a bowl to eat out of later.
  • Cut up the apples in large chunks, set in a measuring cup, pour over the syrup, add cinnamon and a dab of butter and then, and this is indeed enjoyable: microwave the entire mess for two minutes, stirring gently after the first. The apples will turn just soft enough to be crisp but tenderly juicy and warm.
  • Finally, and with great bravado if being observed, pour the mixture over the ham and eat with, and I shall have it no other way, a large cup of hot tea.
