Introduction

I am submitting this recipe because I think this dish is very delicious and spicy. And I just made it myself with all the ingredients my mom has at home. So I made a few experiments and had a great result.

Ingredients

Serves: 2-3

  • 12 fresh shrimp
  • 1½ cups rice
  • ¼ cup diced red onions
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh gingerroot
  • 1 finely chopped red chile
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon asian sesame oil
  • 1 clove minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • mixed herbs
  • spices

Method

  • First, sauté the minced garlic and onions into the pan with olive oil or if you don't have olive oil, you can sauté it with melted butter.
  • Next, when the garlic is already in it's brownish color, and onions are a bit transparent, place the shrimp into the pan and wait until the shrimp is in it's perfect color.
  • Next, when the shrimp is cooked, put the ginger and chili into the pan and put a dash of asian sesame oil into the pan.
  • And for the last step, mix the herb spice and balsamic vinegar to the sautéed ingredients and put the rice into the pan. And keep mixing until the rice has a light brown color. This is because of the balsamic vinegar.
  • Additional Information

For the shrimp, I sometimes cook the shrimp still with its tail on but if you want you can remove all the shell. And this dish, it serves up to 2-3 persons. But because it is so delicious, I don't share it, I just eat it alone. :)

    • Nigella makes a Christmas spicy shrimp that she does in a huge pot on her stove top. It has all kinds of spices and chilis in it but I have never seen on her show where she puts rice in it. The spicy shrimp is dumped into a large bowl and served at Christmas. It is a wonderful dish and I have made it from her recipe for years and years for my seven - fish Christmas Eve meal.
