Maple Syrup and Nut Granola

Introduction

This is an easy, absolutely addictive granola which is low in saturated fat.

Ingredients

Serves: 6-8

Metric Cups
  • 30 grams pecan nuts
  • 30 grams almonds (whole, shelled)
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ gram salt
  • 80 grams raisins (or sultanas or dried cherries)
  • 125 millilitres maple syrup (pure)
  • 750 millilitres rolled oats (not the instant kind)
  • 30 grams macadamia nuts
  • 1 ounce pecan nuts
  • 1 ounce almonds (whole, shelled)
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ounce salt
  • 3 ounces raisins (or sultanas or dried cherries)
  • 4⅖ fluid ounces maple syrup (pure)
  • 26½ fluid ounces quick-cooking oats (not the instant kind)
  • 1 ounce macadamia nuts

Method

Maple Syrup and Nut Granola is a community recipe submitted by miss emmalou and has not been tested by Nigella.com so we are not able to answer questions regarding this recipe.

  1. Preheat oven to 150 degrees celsius.
  2. Roughly chop the nuts - leaving some bits small, and some nuts whole (at least, this is how I like it - feel free to be creative).
  3. Mix all ingredients together well in a large bowl.
  4. Spread out mixture on cookie or baking sheet and bake for around 30-35 minutes. You might need to turn the baking sheet around 20 mins through the baking time.
  5. Let cool then place into air tight container.

Additional Information

This should last around a week or so. To be honest, it never lasts that long anyway! As an FYI - you could add just about any type of nut or dried fruit to this. I've thought about adding some chopped dark chocolate to the baked, cooled mix also.
