Mutton Malai

Introduction

This simple recipe tastes delicious after adding cream. You can serve with rice, paratha or chapatti.

Ingredients

Serves: 2

  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 kilogram mutton
  • salt
  • 1½ tablespoons ginger paste
  • 1½ tablespoons garlic paste
  • ½ short cup curd
  • 3 tablespoons cream
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon green cardamom powder
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2 large onions (finely sliced)
  • 1 short cup garam masala
  • ½ cup coriander leaves

Method

Mutton Malai is a community recipe submitted by anushuab and has not been tested by Nigella.com so we are not able to answer questions regarding this recipe.

  1. Add lemon juice (2 tbsp) and salt to 1 kg boneless mutton cubes and leave it aside for 2 hours.

  2. To the mutton cubes, add ginger paste (1.5 tsp), garlic paste (1.5 tsp), thick curd (0.5 cup), thick cream (3 tbsp), nutmeg powder (0.5 tsp), green cardamom powder (0.5 tsp) and marinate overnight.

  3. Heat oil (1 tbsp) in a pan and add cumin seeds (1 tsp)

  4. Add the marinated mutton and simmer until it softens. Then add the finely sliced onions (2), garam masala (1 tsp) and finely chopped coriander leaves (0.5 cup)

  5. Cook for 15-20 minutes on medium flame

  6. Then the Mutton Malai is ready to be served.
