In Brazil there is no children's party without a chocolate caramel candy called Brigadeiro. Here in the United States every time I make them, they are a big hit. Everybody seems to love it.

Ingredients

Serves: 120

Metric Cups
  • 2 tins condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 5 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 250 grams chocolate sprinkles
  • 2 tins sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 5 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 9 ounces chocolate sprinkles

Method

  • In a medium saucepan mix the condensed milk, cocoa powder and milk. Over low heat cook, stirring, until thickened, and you can start seeing the bottom of the pan.
  • It will take around 10 minutes. Remove from heat, add the butter and vanilla extract.
  • Turn the batter onto a greased plate, and let it rest until cool enough to handle. You can cover with a plastic wrap and put it in the refrigerated overnight. Form into small balls and cover with chocolate sprinkles. Serve in small paper cup holders. They are delicious!
