Dutch Beignets

Introduction
Pronounced "ben-yays". A traditional dish from the Netherlands. I got the recipe from my Dutch grandfather. He made it every year at my parents' New Years' Eve party. I post the recipe in his memory.

Ingredients
Serves: 10
- 6 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 12 ounces apples (peeled cored and sliced ½
- pineapples (cut into rings)
- bananas (sliced lengthwise and in half)
- oil (for frying)
- confectioners' sugar

Additional Information
Be careful to separate the fruit as it fries...it will tend to stick together. Also, be prepared for a messy kitchen! These do make for very good cold-weather party food...and they are perfect for a New Year's Eve party.
