Braaivleis Bread

Introduction

Absolutely delicious with braaivleis.

Ingredients

Serves: 1 loaf

  • 1 kilogram bread dough (shop bought)
  • 1⅕ millilitres cream (or coconut cream)
  • 13 tablespoons caramel sugar

Method

Braaivleis Bread is a community recipe submitted by Taai and has not been tested by Nigella.com so we are not able to answer questions regarding this recipe.

  • Break pieces off the dough and roll into smallish (not to small) balls and place it in a greased cast iron pot (with a lid).
  • Mix the cream (should be at room temperature) with the caramel sugar.
  • Pour the cream mixture over the dough and leave to rise. Bake covered for 35 min. in a 180°C oven. Remove the lid and bake it a further 10 min. Serve immediately.
