Full question
I'm planning to make Nigella's Cheese Stars for Boxing Day. Ideally I would make 3 days ahead and serve cold, but wondered if I should freeze the uncooked stars and bake on the day? Or will serving cold be just as good?
Our answer
Nigella's Cheese Stars are small cheese biscuits that are especially good if served as a pre-dinner bite with a drink or cocktail. The cheese stars are good both warm or cold, though the cheese flavour may be a bit more pronounced when the stars are warm as heat tends to boost salty and umami flavours.
If you do want to serve the stars warm, and this may depend on oven space, then we would follow the instructions in the "Additional Information" box at the bottom of the recipe and freeze the unbaked stars, then on the day simply bake them direct from frozen. They are nicer freshly baked than reheated. But they are also very moreish if served cold, if that is more convenient for you.
