Can I use dried cranberries in your Redder Than Red Cranberry Sauce? I am not able to buy fresh cranberries where I live. I'm not sure but I may be able to buy frozen cranberries. Thanks!

Our answer

Nigella's Redder Than Red Cranberry Sauce (from NIGELLA CHRISTMAS) is a home-made cranberry sauce that goes well with either turkey or ham. Nigella suggests using fresh cranberries, which are available in many supermarkets at this time of year.

Unfortunately we can't recommend using dried cranberries as there would not be enough liquid in the recipe and the texture of dried cranberries will be very different, even when cooked. But frozen cranberries would work well for the sauce and you can cook them direct from frozen. Just start on a low heat until the cranberries have thawed (stirring from time to time), then turn the heat up slightly and let the sauce cook as described in the recipe.
