Coconut Butter

Asked by hattiej. Answered on 4th November 2015

Full question

Hi can you tell me where I can buy coconut butter, I have tried making it but can't get it very smooth thanks

Our answer

There is a difference between coconut butter and coconut oil. The oil is pressed from the coconut flesh and so is 100% oil, whereas the butter is made from the whole coconut flesh so contains oil but also some fibre.

In the UK Holland And Barrett sell coconut butter on-line and you may be able to order it in-store. There are also several on-line sources and it is worth asking in good health food stores. In the US you should also find it in larger natural food stores and there are also on-line sources (look for Artisana organic raw coconut butter). The Vitamin Shoppe sells Coconut Manna, which is another brand of coconut butter. For other countries look in health or natural food stores or on-line.
