I'm just wondering if I can successfully freeze the Christmas Cupcakes and if so, for how long in advance ?

Nigella's Christmas Cupcakes (from HOW TO BE A DOMESTIC GODDESS) are spiced chocolate cupcakes that are topped with royal icing and a holly decoration. It is possible to freeze the baked cakes and we suggest doing this without the icing on top.
Bake the cupcakes as directed and let them cool completely on a wire rack. Put the cupcakes into airtight containers and freeze for up to 3 months. To thaw the cupcakes, put them on a wire rack and leave at room temperature for about 2 hours, or until at room temperature, and then ice the cupcakes with the royal icing. The thawed cupcakes are best eaten on the same day, but can be stored in an airtight container for 1-2 days.
