Instant Chocolate Mousse Tart

Asked by Mrsbuble. Answered on 8th October 2014

Full question

Hi, can the Instant Chocolate Mousse be made into a tart using a biscuit base? Thank you.

Our answer

Nigella's Instant Chocolate Mousse (from Nigella Express and on the Nigella website) is made from a base of melted marshmallows and whipped cream. This is the same base that Nigella uses to make her Grashopper Pie (from Kitchen) and My Brandy Alexander Pie (on the Nigella website).

Consequently we suspect that the mousse could be used as a filling for a chocolate tart, though we would emphasise that we have not tried this so cannot guarantee the results. For a crushed cookie base you could try using the bourbon biscuit (oreo cookie) base that Nigella uses for the Grasshopper Pie. We would also suggest that once you have filled the base with the mousse filling you let the tart set in the fridge overnight.
