This week’s Cookbook Corner is a slight deviation from habitual practice, as my subject is not a cookbook, but a boxed set of 100 postcards, reproducing the covers of vintage cookery books. Now, my mother always kept a little basket of ready-stamped postcards so that it was easy to scrawl and send off said thank you pretty much the moment you got home from whatever it was you were thanking for, working on the premise that the quicker the response, the shorter it need be. And these food-lovers’ postcards could hardly be more suitable for a bread-and-butter note.
