  • Whisk softened butter, cream butter and sugar together until fluffy. Add the eggs and beat until even lighter and fluffier, without overbeating.
  • Add baking powder, soda, vanilla and orange extract and orange zest. Mix well. Add flour and mix until uniform. Add orange juice and mix until smooth and well blended.
  • Pour into 2, 8" cake pans, buttered, floured, and lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake at 350 to 360 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes, or until golden and the cake is pulling away from the edges of the pan. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
  • Serve with a dusting of powdered sugar, or with a buttercream frosting of your choice.

    • Hi! I found the perfect recipe for my son's Lego cake! I will comment after I prepare it. I can tell by the ingredients and prepping, this is going to be stunning! Last year I made a candy cake with vanilla flavor, year prior it was chocolate. Wanted something new and tasty for my stunning 10 year old son. With blue and green fondant icing, this is sure to be a winner. Thank you. xx Best, dp
