Chicken Rendang

Introduction

Chicken Rendang is a traditional dish served during festivals in malaysia. It is a signature dish for eid.

Ingredients

Serves: 4

  • 5 shallots
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 5⅛ centimetres piece of fresh gingerroot
  • 2½ centimetres galangal
  • 5 lemongrass
  • 1 handful dried chile
  • turmeric leaves
  • salt (to taste)
  • 250 millilitres coconut milk
  • 397 grams chicken

Method

  • Pput in the blended ingredients and coconut milk in a pot, let it simmer slowly, then add the chicken.
  • When the chicken is tender, add in salt to taste. cook with low heat and constant stirring.
  • After the gravy is dried up , slice the turmeric leaves thinly and add to the dish.
  • Serve with rice or bread. Hope you will like it.
