Onion Chutney

Introduction

This chutney goes great with any curry, or you can eat it on cheese on toast...yummy!

Ingredients

Serves: 4

  • onions (not red)
  • oil (for frying)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 tablespoon mango chutney
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 red chilli (if you like it hot)

Method

Onion Chutney is a community recipe submitted by Micetich and has not been tested by Nigella.com so we are not able to answer questions regarding this recipe.

  • Fry onions in oil until lightly browned and soft, this should take 10 minutes on a low flame.
  • After 5 minutes add the mustard seeds.
  • Add all other ingredients and fry for another 5/10 minutes.
  • That's all......its SO simple but it has so much flavour!

    • One has to have an idea of how many onions are needed in this recipe. I find it strange not to put the quantityas it must be different in relation to the rest of the spices !
