Firstly cook the kidney beans in pressure cooker covering it with a cup of water over 4-5 whistles. If you are using microwave, pls cover it with water & cook it for 20mins at 250C. Now in a non-stick pan, add oil,put bay leaves, cloves and garlic-ginger-chilly paste. Once it starts crackling, add onions and cook it until golden. Now add salt & 1 teaspoon of garam masala. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes. Then add turmeric & tomato puree. Stir it for few minutes. Now add kidney beans, 100 mil of water, red chile powder, salt to taste, cumin powder & remaining garam masala. Cover it with lid and let it cook for another 5-7 mins. Now open & check if all the flavours have mixed together. You'll find deliiously red gravy & red beans in it. Remove it from flame and garnish with corriander. For Rice - In a pressure cooker, add ghee & cumin seeds. Once they crackle add the rice and stir if for few minutes on high flame. Now add water & salt. Let it pressure cook on 2 whistles. Garnish it with corriander.

For the Rajma
- 1 cup kidney beans (soaked overnight)
- 2 onions (finely chopped)
- 2 cups tomato puree
- 1 teaspoon garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon fresh gingerroot
- 1 teaspoon green chile
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 3 bay leaves
- 3 cloves
- 2 teaspoons red chile powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 pinch of turmeric
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3½ fluid ounces water
- cilantro (finely chopped)
For the Rice
- 2 cups basmati rice (washed and kept in the refrigerator for 15 minutes)
- 2 tablespoons cumin seeds
- cilantro (lots, for garnishing)
- salt (to taste)
- 12 teaspoons butter / ghee
- 3 cups water
