Vada Pav (Indian Burger)

Introduction
This is the most common food you'll find in Mumbai and it's famous as the Indian Burger. Well I admit it's high cholesterol but at times I give up on this.

Ingredients
Serves: 4-5
For the Filling
- 3 large potatoes (boiled)
- 1 finely chopped onion
- 3 green chiles
- 1 piece of fresh gingerroot
- 5 cloves finely chopped garlic
- cilantro
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 pinch of asafoetida salt (to taste)
- gram vegetable oil (for frying)
For the Coating
- 2½ cups gram flour (besan)
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon curry powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1½ cups water
- bread (fresh bakery bread - to serve)

Additional Information
This is very filling and makes approx. 10-12 Vadas. Can be eaten as snack. You'll find the gram flour in any Indian super markets.
