The Crisp Greeen Salad has 4 teaspoons of capers? Is this correct or can I change the amount?
Our answer
Nigella's Crisp Green Salad With Parsley And capers is a favourite side salad as it combines the crunch of Romaine lettuce, herby parsley and tangy capers.
The recipe actually contains 4 tablespoons (tbsp) of capers and not 4 teaspoons (tsp). Nigella suggests using nonpareille (nonpareil) capers and these are the very tiny capers that you can find in jars in many supermarkets. The smaller capers distribute well in the salad, bringing a briny bite to each mouthful. However, if you can't find nonpareille capers then you can use regular capers instead, in the same quantity. If you wish to slightly reduce the amount of capers (or even increase!) in the salad then it is absolutely fine, as the beauty of this salad is that you can tweak it to your own taste.
