Introduction

This is the way my Indian family prepare porridge, and I must say it's criminally good. So much for oats being good against cholesterol! they put a stop to that kind of goings on! I tells ya!

Metric Cups
  • porridge oats
  • butter
  • sugar
  • milk
  • quick-cooking oats
  • butter
  • sugar
  • milk

Method

I wont talk quantities as such, you'll know what to do...

  • Melt a dollop of butter in a pan, and add the oats.
  • Toast the oats until they begin to go golden brown and very fragrant.
  • Add the milk and gently simmer until thick and creamy.
  • Add the sugar.
  • Eat.' I like to let it go a little cooler and it forms a nice creamy layer on top.
