Creepy Cooking

When I was a child, Halloween was not quite the full-on affair in this country as it is now, but any cause for festivities is always a good thing, so I am more than happy to enter into the spooky spirit of the occasion. Besides, most of my halloween recipes come from a time when my children were young and so I have a particular attachment to them. So, if you’re planning a halloween party or just wanting to entertain children or have fun yourself, here are some ideas to help you get your ghoul on.

First off, have to be Creepy Cookies but it would be remiss of me not to mention my Ghoul-Graveyard Cake and I should remind you here, that it is the subject of our October Cookalong, so if you still haven’t entered, here is the link to show you how. Be bold, and give us all you’ve got.

Obviously, there is no room for a delicate sensibility when it comes to Halloween cooking, as my recipes for Witches’ Hair, Slime Soup and, most of all, Pus and Blood Clots demonstrate. And you’ll just have to click on all the links to be reassured that they taste so much more delicious than their rather disgusting names would seem to indicate!

Finally, as a savoury counter to post-trick-or-treating sugar shock, I suggest you fry up some crisp and oozing Mozzarella In Carrozza.

Happy Halloween!
